All in All is an exhibition exploring the concept of the Akashic Records. First thought up in the early 1900s, the Akashic Records is a pseudoscientific theory of a nonphysical energetic record of all souls, knowledge, and occurrences in the universe. Although not supported by science, phenomena of a similar nature is described in various cultures, and many claim that the Records could hold a connection to past lives, dreams, deja-vu, unexplained geniuses and prophesies, and can be accessed by enlightened individuals through deep meditation and cosmic consciousness.
In this work, the Records are portrayed it in an artistic way that could hold the attentions of even spiritually skeptic audiences. Using colorful cloud-like shapes to symbolize different pieces of the universe, visually connected to black-and-white images of more familiar images (animals, people, plants) to show that everything is linked. All in All is primarily experienced through the museum exhibition, as well as a small takeaway booklet, It All Comes Together if You Want it To, that could be taken at the end of the exhibit to be further observed or shared. The deliverables also include promotional posters and a gift or souvenir package.
THE EXHIBIT
The exhibit for All in All is intended to present audiences with an abstract, spiritual concept in a fun and tangible way. The bright colors and cloud-like shapes represent
different ‘pieces’ of the universe, scattered with seemingly unrelated imagery that quite literally come together throughout the rooms. Life-size figures on the walls make viewers feel like they themselves are part of the experience, guided from wall to wall via the colorful clouds.
THE BOOKLET
A take-away piece from the exhibit, It All Comes Together if You Want it To discusses a more summarized version of what appears in the exhibit, so visitors could introduce the concept to friends or revisit it themselves. In the center of the booklet, the cloud-shape is revisited as a die-cut throughout the pages, acting as a window to the different pages, which are each represented by a different color.
